Preparations For Baby

My latest project has been working on Axton's new room. I realized with this one that projects go a lot slower when you are 7 months pregnant. The room was previously Dan's office and we had painted it a dark armyish green when we first moved in. My job was to paint it tan. This task would usually take me one late night with my friend Erin. This time it took me about two weeks!
My parents got Axton the table and chair set for Christmas and I was so thrilled that it matched the bedding I picked out for him perfectly. The bedding matches the valance. (No bed yet, my parents are bringing one over that they had in a spare room. Aaah, free. YES PLEASE!)
Axton was excited to have a new room and as soon as we opened it up to him he went right to his new table and sat by the window to play. I never realized the great view of the mountains we have right out our front window. We are lucky here in Utah and take it for granted.

More Preparations for Baby:
My "Udder Cover" came in the mail yesterday and I'm not even sure how much I'll be using it with this new baby. I only nursed Axton for about 6 weeks.
Luckily Axton found a great use for it by making it into a very feminine hero cape!

Look how proud he is. He is my little hero even sporting the nursing bracelet that came with it.
The poor kid has no idea what's coming, does he?

TOTALLY LOSING IT

I don't know whether to blame my pregnancy or what, but I'm totally losing it lately.

In the last weekend I've:

1. COMPLETELY SPACED a baby shower that I've been looking forward to for a really long time,
2. Ditzed a Dr.'s appointment yesterday, and
3. Slept through a conference call with a customer, auditor, and upper management this AM.

Tell me, is it because I'm pregnant?! If so, I just HOPE I CAN MAKE IT THROUGH THIS WITH MY JOB!

Count Von Count

I find myself counting 2010 miracles like the Count from Sesame Street. Does that mean I'm getting some education out of Axton's shows or does it mean that I'm searching desperately to find reasons that this year will be better then last?!

It goes like this:

A new Bishop. ONE. ONE 2010 MIRACLE!
A new ward time - 11:30. TWO! TWO 2010 MIRACLES!
A new sales quota. THREE!
Another baby in 2010. FOUR! which means...
I'll be able to see my toes again in 2010. FIVE FANTASTIC 2010 MIRACLES!

Now friends, that's just five. I'll leave it at that for now. I just wanted y'all to know that things are looking up this year for my little family. Ah yes, lets put 2009 behind us and look ahead. It's already a better year!

More Pictures From Christmas

There it is! The Christmas Glee!

Cole came downstairs Christmas morning wearing a pair of VERY SMALL snowman boxers. I had flashbacks of living with Cade in high school (only Cade sported "tightie whities") before making him go back to his room to get some pants on.

I put this picture in because I think Cole is such a little stud. There he is playing the piano at his Christmas recital.

Two Great Visits

We were able to visit with my Aunt Cathy, Uncle Roger, and cousins Thomas and Amy right after Christmas. I'm always grateful to get together with them because it is rare to get them all together! Thomas lives in San Francisco where he is going to med school and Amy lives in Oregon where she just finished school and has been teaching (God bless her, it takes one just like Amy). Uncle Roger and Aunt Cathy live in Salt Lake City and we get to see them a little more often. (Uncle Roger is my mom's brother)

Second, I got a call from my friend Angie from Denver, who said she would be in town for a night and wondered if she and her husband Ryan could come visit. WHAT A TREAT! Angie isn't Mormon so she has very few reasons to travel out to Utah for a visit. She has done it a few times though in the ten or so years that I've lived in Utah. It turns out IKEA prompted them to make the trip. Thank you IKEA! Any of you that knew me in high school knew that Angie, Erin, and I were inseparable. You rarely saw us apart. It was so much fun to get together again.

Axton's Life

I was happy to spend some extra time with Axton over Christmas and New Year's. Dan was gone for a week so it was just us two home for awhile. Here are some pictures I got of my handsome little Axton...

He was having a hard time keeping his eyes open for the camera flash so I got some funny pics of his attempts.

We had Boston over for a play date.

We made cookies and he likes the dough just like his mama.
He ate his first crepe and loved it...and the next 3.
He enjoyed SHAKING the tree. I don't mind. All of the ornaments this year are plastic.

And finally, he ends the day watching cartoons next to the dog with the most incredible long tongue. I know you're all shocked. Our dog does actually sit calmly next to Axton sometimes.

A Visit With the Griffins

This all happened before Christmas - (and even before Thanksgiving), but I have a hard time getting to download the pictures from this camera so here we are. We had a visit from Dan's parents, Sarah, and Nan just before we went to Vegas for Thanksgiving. Axton opened his Christmas gifts early and LOVED THEM. His favorite is the special sized chair just for him.

We talked and ate take-out Indian food. It was a great visit. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Griffin for the visit and gifts!
